Nitrate Nitrogen Removal Facility

Nitrate nitrogen in drinking water is hazardous to the farm animal and human body in a variety of form. Nitrate toxicity could be almost negligible, but its second or third toxic effect is worth noting.

The second effect of toxicity is caused when nitrate nitrogen is deoxidized to nitrite nitrogen by microorganism. Deoxidized nitrite nitrogen is absorbed to the blood and reacts with hemoglobin to result in partial loss of the blood`s oxygen delivery function. Such reaction is particularly fatal to infants, causing a so-called blue-baby disease. The third effect of toxicity is extensively dangerous by forming nitrosamine by reaction of nitrate nitrogen with stomach acid The nitrate nitrogen level permitted by WHO and Korea, USA and European governments is 10ppm and should not be over 44ppm.

Generally, anion exchange resin is highly efficient to remove nitrate nitrogen and the salt (NaCl) is used for its reproduction agent. The normal range of this material can remove nitrate nitrogen from millions of gallons of water daily. The Reverse Osmosis System can also remove about 95% of nitrate nitrogen.
